The bad news is that, unfortunately, liberty and leave are totally up to the Navy. It depends upon their need of his skills or expertise. It also depends on his chain of command.
The good news is that he presently has minimal skills and practically no skills in whatever rating he's striking for -- specialty for which he's going to ';A'; school. Most schools are not considered particularly ';critical'; endeavors -- though those skills the schools teach may be so considered -- the schools tend to ';close down'; on major holidays such as the Christmas - New Years week (or so). That's so the instructors can spend that time with their families -- and, as a result, so can the trainees.
So, he may be home for Christmas.
In my experience (25 years in the Navy), I was able to get home for about half those Christmases. But when I went in, Boot Camp was more than twice as long as it is now, and we were given two weeks ';Boot Leave'; after recruit training was completed and before we had to report to our ';A'; school.
The only way you're going to find out for sure is (1) through him -- when he finds out, he'll let you know, or (2) by checking with Great Lakes -- not advised, or (3) contacting his ';A'; school -- definitely not advised. I mention (2) and (3) to caution you against contacting his chain of command. That's absolutely the last thing you ever want to do. At best, he'll get a whole lot of teasing. At worst, he could get into a little trouble -- not because you pestered his chain of command, but because he failed to keep you adequately informed. Will my husband get to come home from christmas if he graduates from boot camp Dec 14?
im not sure about the navy but when i was in tech school i had two weeks off. it was called exodus. i had to take leave and that time was borrowed from future time. meaning what leave time i earned later on was used to pay off the leave debt i had. you still have to pay for you way home though. but for the most part you have to get used to the idea that your husband will not be home or have holidays or birthdays off. there is no guarantee for any time off. you have to remember that the needs of the military come first before anything else.
All training in CONUS stops for Christmas and the only people who are still working are people in critical jobs and people who are outside of the US. More than likely he will be allowed to go on leave after basic but he might be required to sign in at his AIT first. He would have to talk to his DIs to see if he can go on leave or not after basic.
The navy like the army has Christmas Exodus. That is more a less a two week period where the school environment stops and they send the soldiers home. So yes he should be able to come home for Christmas...provided he has the money to do so.
He should, right after bootcamp they will usually go to their station of training, im guessing hes not army because we do basic not boot camp. Usually during Xmas most of the schools shut down so most military personnel will be give a chance for leave.
Sometimes when you get done camp you can go on leave before going to tech school. Depends on Uncle sam. But most times its after tech school. Learn to do without him on the holidays.
My experience is Army and unless the military has changed drastically, a person goes from Basic directly to Advanced Individual Training. No break in between, sorry.
Depends on the school. Some schools close for Christmas Break, and they'll given an opportunity to take leave to go home.
Depends on if they are in a war zone etc, if not I think they will probably given leave.
He has AIT right after, there's a chance he might not. I'm really sorry if he doesn't.
