u cant power of attorney is only so that u can make legal decision it dousnt mean u can buy things useing his credit without his knowledgeBefore my husband left to go to Iraq he appointed me as general power of attorney?
You technically CAN finance a car using your husband's income, but most dealerships choose not to do business that way. Lots of disgruntled military wives try to screw over their soon-to-be ex husbands that way. Its not the most sound business practice for the dealership. Maybe he can have a specific power of attorney drafted for you if he approves of the car buying business. It would be helpful to know a little more of the circumstances and need for the car.
hmm. possibly NOT.. most times anything to do with money must be a specific POA. NO ONE is REQUIRED ot accept a General POA and in fact when money is involved sometimes not even a specfic POA is enough unless it stipulates exactly what it is you are buying.. in other words..
';I, Sgt John Doe do hereby authorize my wife to buy a car'; may NOT be enough.. it may need to specify what dealer, what make and model of car and include enough details so that you can't swap a porsche for a honda.
when we closed on our house the wording was MOST specific for my POA( and I also required his original DL( no copies allowed).
It depends on what the POA says you can do.
If it says you can ';perform any property or financial transaction which you could perform, including the power to sell or purchase property or borrow money'; or something to that effect then, yes you can.
For the most part you should be able to with a general.
A General Power of Attorney allows you to do things such as:
Handling banking transactions
Buying and selling property
Entering into contracts
Buying, managing or selling real estate
Seems your car loan is covered. The dealer is just misinformed. I hope your husband is aware of what you're doing with his income though.
I would try sites like the one below. They have customer reviews as well as lots of other good info on lawyers. Good luck!

Before a General could have worked, but years ago it changed where when it comes to financial matters it has to be a Specific POA. It can have numerous Specifics on it, but it has to outline that you can buy a vehicle under his name, with his income under a certain amount. To many spouses used the POAs to wipe out bank accounts, buy houses, vehicles and everything else and leave without doing squat about it.
You can....a Power of Attorney is basically giving you the right to act as his agent while he can't.....that said I hope you discussed this with your husband first.....lot's of wives get crazy when given that power and your husband has instilled a lot of trust in you
